Rittenhouse Neighborhood

Rittenhouse Square has become known in Philadelphia as the city’s most popular town square. While Rittenhouse Square is the name of the public park in the center of the neighborhood, it is also the name of the surrounding neighborhood in Center City, which is also referred to as Rittenhouse. The neighborhood has been called one of the finest urban neighborhoods in the country. Fitler Square and Rittenhouse Square comprise the Rittenhouse–Fitler Historic District. Several of the city’s best-loved outdoor sculptures reside in Rittenhouse Square, and the sidewalks feature high-end stores, locally-owned boutiques, small galleries, theaters and entertainment, cafes, beer, wine, and cocktail bars, and restaurants of all kinds. This makes the area always exciting throughout the year. The neighborhood spans Market to South streets from the north to south and runs east to west from Broad Street to the Schuylkill River Banks.
