Society Hill Neighborhood

One of the oldest and most highly desirable areas of Philadelphia, Society Hill offers an unbeatable combination of restaurants, shopping and historic landmarks. This area of the city was settled in the early 1680’s, boasting colonial architecture, franklin street lamps, cobblestone streets, there is historic charm around every corner. Society Hill is loosely defined as bordered by Walnut St. to the north, Lombard St. to the south, 8th St. to the west and Front St. to the east. As all areas of Philadelphia, Society hill residents are part of the Philadelphia School District including General George A. McCall School and Benjamin Franklin High School. Additionally, St. Peter’s School, an independent, non-sectarian day school, serves children from preschool through the 8th grade. A few of the highlighted restaurants in this area include Marrakesh (517 S. Leithgow St.), Twisted Tail (509 S. 2nd St.) and Bistro Romano (120 Lombard St.)
